Policy Status

You will need to accept or decline your Homeowners Choice offer by November 6th, 2023. You may either contact your agent directly and ask for their assistance or make your selection online at www.citizensfla.com/online-choice.

Payments

Your current policy premium has already been paid unless you pay Citizens in installments. If you currently pay under the installment plan, continue to pay Citizens.

Before your policy ends its term with Citizens, you will receive a renewal offer and invoice from Homeowners Choice, providing payment instructions and options.

If your insurance premium is paid as a part of your mortgage payment, your lender will receive the same premium notice, and there will be no disruption to that process.

      • For claims with a date of loss on or after November 21, 2023, should be reported to Homeowners Choice at 866-324-3138.

  • Do I need to take any action if I wish to accept the Homeowners Choice renewal policy?  You will need to accept or decline your Homeowners Choice offer by November 6th, 2023. You may either contact your agent directly and ask for their assistance or make your selection online at www.citizensfla.com/online-choice.
  • How do I decline the offer of a renewal policy? If you wish to decline the Homeowners Choice offer, you may either contact your agent directly and ask for their assistance or decline your offer online at citizensfla.com/online-choice.
  • Are customers losing coverage? No, they are gaining coverage with the Homeowners Choice policy. For example, water coverage does not have a sub-limit or buyback required. The same applies to screen enclosures.
  • Can I make changes to my policy? Submit your change request to your agent, who will forward it to Citizens for processing. Once your policy is renewed with Homeowners Choice your agent will forward your requests to Homeowners Choice for processing.
  • When will I receive my renewal from Homeowners Choice? Policyholders assumed from Citizens will receive their Homeowners Choice renewal offer approximately 45 days before their renewal date.
  • Should I continue to make payments to Citizens Insurance?
    • Your current policy premium has already been paid unless you pay Citizens in installments. If you currently pay under the installment plan, continue to pay Citizens.
    • Before your policy ends its term with Citizens, you will receive a renewal offer and invoice from Homeowners Choice, providing payment instructions and options.

  • How can I pay my Homeowners Choice renewal policy premium? Once you receive a renewal offer packet and invoice from Homeowners Choice, it will include payment instructions and options. Homeowners Choice offers the following payment options:
      • Check / Money Order mailed to Homeowners Choice, P.O. Box 23177, Tampa, FL 33623
      • Credit card / ACH by calling Homeowners Choice at (888) 210-5235
    • Homeowners Choice does not currently offer recurring credit card payments or policyholder/agent portal payments.
  • I was on a payment plan with Citizens Insurance. Can I continue with the same payments? If you were on a Semi-Annual or Quarterly installment plan, you will keep it. If you were using an installment plan greater than a 4-pay plan, it will be converted to a quarterly installment plan with Homeowners Choice. Homeowners Choice payment options include:
    • Annual
    • Semi-Annual
    • Quarterly
