As you may know, there have been plans underway for Homeowners Choice Property & Casualty Insurance Company to issue replacement policies to United Property and Casualty Insurance (UPC Insurance) policyholders in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey only. We are pleased to announce that this plan has been approved by the state regulators.

We look forward to having you as a customer. We want to ensure that your transition to Homeowners Choice is smooth and simple. If you are currently an UPC Insurance customer, you’ll be receiving more information in the mail soon, including your replacement policy, so please be on the lookout. No action on your part is required unless you wish to decline our offer for coverage.

Policy Status

There will be no lapse in coverage for UPC Insurance policyholders.

The Homeowners Choice replacement policies will take effect immediately when the UPC Insurance policies are cancelled on January 15, 2022, at 12:01 AM local time and will end on the anniversary dates of the original UPC Insurance policy.

  • Do I need to take any action if I wish to accept the Homeowners Choice replacement policy? No. UPC Insurance policyholders do not need to take any action other than continue to pay any premium payments due.
  • How do I decline the offer of a replacement policy? If you wish to decline the Homeowners Choice offer, you must reach out to your agent to secure coverage with another carrier and cancel your UPC Insurance policy prior to the replacement policy effective date.
    • Any premium credit that results from the cancellation will be refunded.
    • If no action is taken prior to the replacement policy effective date, the policy will automatically transition to Homeowners Choice.
  • Should I continue to make payments to UPC Insurance?
    • Premium payments due prior to the replacement policy effective date, should be sent to UPC Insurance.
    • All payments due on/after the replacement policy effective date, should be sent to Homeowners Choice to maintain coverage.
    • Customers will not receive duplicate invoices from Homeowners Choice and UPC Insurance, nor will they be billed twice.
  • How can I pay my remaining premium?
    • Premium payments may be paid by:
      • Check / Money Order mailed to Homeowners Choice, P.O. Box 23177, Tampa, FL 33623
      • Credit card / ACH by calling Homeowners Choice at (888) 210-5235
    • Homeowners Choice does not currently offer recurring credit card payments or policyholder/agent portal payments.
  • My policy with UPC Insurance was paid in full. Am I going to have to pay for the Homeowners Choice replacement policy? No. All payments that you made to UPC Insurance will be credited to your Homeowners Choice replacement policy. If you were paid in full, there will be no additional payments needed.
  • I was on a payment plan with UPC Insurance. Can I continue with the same payments? If you were on a Semi-Annual or Quarterly installment plan, you will keep it. If you were using an installment plan greater than a 4-pay plan, it will be converted to a quarterly installment plan with Homeowners Choice. Homeowners Choice payment options include:

    • Semi-Annual
    • Quarterly

  • My credit card is automatically billed with UPC Insurance. Will Homeowners Choice automatically bill my credit card? Please contact UPC Insurance customer service or your agent to cancel automatic billing of your credit card. Currently, Homeowners Choice does not offer recurring payments. However, you may pay by credit card/ACH by calling Homeowners Choice Customer Service at (888) 210-5235
  • I typically make payments to my Agent for my current policy. Can I continue? No. All future payments should be made payable to Homeowners Choice.
